My little brother Joe is serving a mission in Texas right now. This is the letter he just e-mailed everyone...
hello every one so in case you havent been watching the news the place that i'm staying at has been hit by a really big hurricane. the town that i was staying in , Orange, was hit the hardest. it got flooded in some places up to six feet of water. a lot of church members homes are in really bad shape and the hole city is with out power and will be for the next month. my zone and i got evaquated to lake charles louisiana. we stayed in a church for two nights and stayed with other missionarys for three and we are the only missionarys that didnt lose power. we are planing to go back to orange today and start helping with the clean up so far we have gutted two peoples homes here.during the hurricane tha city was on lock down for two days before and after the hurricane there was a curfew for people. you couldnt be out in the streets at all after ten in the morning un less you are in a car but you couldnt go walking around. we talked to a cop who said he arrested 25 people in 3 days.thigs are really crazy down here and i dont think im going to be doing normal missionary work for a long time. its just going to be helping people out for a really long time.staying in the church was a lot of fun all the missionarys where playing games and just messing around for like three days. we couldnt go any where or do anything so we just played card games and watched church movies the whole time. it was really fun.well i got to go wish me luck
Love E youngJoe i know you are tough and brave and that the people of Texas can really use your help right now, but please please please be safe. Watch out for yourself and don't try anything too crazy. I hope that the people down there can recover from this disaster and that you can help them out in the best way that you can. I hope that you have what you need to survive, like food and water and a warm place to stay. I love you little bro. I am praying for you and the people of Texas!
